Financial Technology? We got this.

As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we understand that worrying about payment technologies or ATM Machines isn’t at the top of your priority list. Lucky, it is at the top of ours.

Our Story

Skylake Financial was initially born in December of 2015 as Black Dog ATM. Our vision was to create an ATM Machine company and approach the industry in a fun way that appealed to small businesses.

The founder of the company, Nick Ford, began the company from a hospital room after his wife gave birth and his newborn was resting. With nothing more than a laptop and an idea, Nick went to work purchasing a domain name, website hosting, and registering the company name. He had always wanted to start an ATM business and for whatever reason, “…the light bulb just went on…” as he describes it.

As a combat veteran of the US Army, Nick felt compelled to somehow put a twist in his business model — he’d have his ATMs donate to veteran charity each time they were used. Soon, Nick saw value in expanding the company’s offerings to include merchant services, POS Systems, and online payments. After five years, the business rebranded to Skylake Financial to better reflect the vast array of services that we offer.

Look! We’re human!

Most companies are only willing to show the world their best. We think it is important and pretty cool to showcase where we started and how we’ve improved along the way. The business cards below are examples of how transparency and humanizing our company are top priorities.

Thanks for stopping by to learn about our awesome company!

The photo to the left represents myself far more accurately than me wearing a suit. I enjoy getting my hands dirty and being “in the trenches” and designed Skylake Financial to not only be a world-class fintech company but to be easily-relatable to fellow small-business owners. We want to know your company and we want you to know us!

A little about me… I’m a combat veteran of the US Army, father, and husband. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity. In my spare time, I love BBQing, cybersecurity research, reading, building forts with my kids, and annoying my wife.

You only live once, so live now.
